Café Rouge

After another break from blogging (sorry guys!), I've now finished my second year of university! Now that I'm free from deadlines, I'll be posting A LOT MORE FREQUENTLY, so watch this space!

My first comeback post is going to be based around my celebration meal at Café Rouge in the beautiful city of Durham. I mean, finishing second year is a great excuse to dine out, right?

Believe it or not, I had never dined at Café Rouge before, so this was quite exciting for me. 

It would be a crime not to celebrate in style with a glass of champagne, so this was obviously the first thing I ordered...oops. I'm guessing that you're probably searching for the closest Café Rouge to you, now that you've looked at the glass of champagne, so I'll let you into a little secret, the champagne pictured above is the Piper-Heidsieck Rosé Sauvage Brut, you can thank me later ;-).

After champagne, it was time to eat, and I have to admit, this was probably one of the nicest meals that I've EVER had. So simple, yet so delicious! I'm actually beginning to crave it whilst writing this post...perhaps another trip to Café Rouge is needed fairly soon. 

I ordered the Demi Poulet, which consists of a half roasted chicken, marinated in garlic and herbs, served with thyme jus and frites, please forgive me as I didn't have chance to capture the main course as I was a little bit too hungry! However, I promise you, it was great!

Whether we're dieting, or just cutting down on our portion sizes because summer is just around the corner, nobody can resist a dessert. It was just beautiful. I could eat it again right now, no lie. I managed to actually take a photograph of the dessert so well done to me! I'm sure you'll all be drooling over it when you see it, I know I am. 

Now that you've had time to dream about this scrumptious dessert, I'll let you know what it is, so you can order one immediately. I ordered the Fondant Aux Chocolats, which consists of a hot chocolate fondant with a melting middle served with chocolate and raspberry fondant ice, you wouldn't have thought that I'm going to be living in a bikini in four weeks, I think I can hear the gym calling my name. However, it was just splendid, a dessert that I would never get tired of ordering. 

So there you have it, my first comeback post, talking about all things food and champagne, you can't blame me for making this my comeback post now, can you?
